Having completed his celebrated family saga with the novel Collapse, the French star Édouard Louis’s next project is eagerly anticipated by his fans. Now, he visits the House of Literature with a new text called «The Book of Wonders: a prologue», about desire, longing and wonders. Louis will read the text himself, with music by artist and composer Sandra Kolstad.
Both Collapse and the critically acclaimed and stage adapted novel Who Killed My Father began as commissions from the House of Literature, with Kolstad composing the music for both performances. Now, Louis and Kolstad join forces at the House of Literature again, to perform a brand new, exclusive work.
Èdouard Louis is one of the most original and groundbreaking writers of his generation. He has published seven critically acclaimed novels, and in books such as The End of Eddy, Change: Method and Monique Escapes, he writes ruthlessly and skillfully abouth subjects like class distinctions, violence, racism, homophobia, political power and powerlessness.
Sandra Kolstad is one of Norway’s most innovative musicians. She has released six critically acclaimed albums, and published a novel, To ord for ødeleggelse («Two Words for Destruction»). Kolstad also works as a theater composer, and she has composed music for texts by writers such as Anne Carson, Jon Fosse and Athena Farrokhzad.
The event will be in English.
Édouard Louis will also visit Det Norske Teatret as part of the International Fosse Festival. Read more about their program here.
