Free Nations, New States

Is the decolonization of Russia a key to long-term peace and security in Europe?

Antologi Free Nations, New States: The End Stage of Russian Colonialism

As part of the book tour, a presentation, panel discussion, and open dialogue will be held in Oslo with co-authors, invited guests, and journalists. The central theme is:

Is the decolonization of Russia a key to long-term peace and security in Europe?

The anthology presents analyses, experiences, and proposals from leading experts both within and outside Russia, addressing future realities that Vladimir Putin does not want the world to see. The book explores how Russia’s military setbacks in Ukraine have triggered processes that may not only weaken Russia internally, but ultimately lead to the dissolution of Europe’s last colonial empire — and what consequences this could have for Europe and the world.

Topics to be discussed include:

- Is a transformation from today’s Russia into a diversity of independent states possible?

- Which nations and regions remain under Moscow’s control, and how can they achieve democracy and freedom?

- How can demilitarization and denuclearization be ensured in potential post-Russian successor states?

- How should Europe respond to disinformation, hybrid warfare, and pressure from the alliance of Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea?

- What challenges and opportunities will the Nordic region, the Baltics, and the Arctic face in a possible future post-Russian Europe?

Both international and Norwegian experts will share perspectives on the causes and development of the war, and how this anthology can inspire efforts toward a safer, renewed Europe.
