Europe is at a crossroads. The continent’s main ally, the United States, is withdrawing, and the European coalition is threatening to implode. At the same time, the advancement of the far right is challenging the idea of a liberal and democratic Europe. Which future Europe do we want?

Anton Jäger is a Belgian historian and professor, and author of Hyperpolitics: Extreme Politicization without Political Consequences, a social diagnosis of modern politics.

In her books Kulturkrig (Culture wars)and Tilbakeslaget (The Backlash), author and critic Carline Tromp describes the advancement of right-wing populism in Europe, both institutionally and ideologically.

Journalist and author Simen Ekern has written a number of books on recent European history and politics. He will meet Jäger and Tromp for a conversation about the future of European unity.

The conversation will be in English.
