Azerbaijan is the host country for the UN climate summit in 2024, COP29, “In solidarity for a green world”. The Baku Climate Summit will bring together policy makers, environmental experts and activists from around the world to discuss sustainable solutions and innovative strategies to combat climate change.
We invite you to “COP2: Our Green Legacy for the Future” in Oslo.
The conference, which will take place in English, brings together a number of inspiring speakers who will share their unique perspectives and insights on how we can work together to achieve the global climate goals. Together, we will focus on creating a shared green heritage that will benefit future generations.

Acoustic concert with Marie Sahba and guitarist Aleksander Sjølie
We open the event with an unforgettable musical experience when Marie Sahba, with her critically acclaimed debut album “A Billion Years Too Soon”, takes the stage together with the talented guitarist Aleksander Sjølie.
This album is a tribute to the father, their roots and history, with a rich mix of rhythms and lyrics from Norway, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The album alternates between light and dark and cultural impulses from two contingents and was named one of the spring’s best Norwegian albums. The music video “A Billion Years Too Soon” has also received great recognition, with a nomination for the Bergen International Film Festival

Mrs. Nigar Arpadarai is also a member of Azerbaijan’s National Assembly, where she works actively with international relations and social issues. With an academic background in international law from Baku State University, Mrs. Arpadarai has represented Azerbaijan in various international forums.
Eli B. Munkelien
Director – COP Norwegian Business Delegation – Innovation Norway.
Mrs. Munkelien brings with her extensive experience in the role of business in the fight against climate change. She will share valuable perspectives on how business can take responsibility for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a sustainable future.
In 2023, Mrs. Munkelien led a delegation to COP28 in Dubai, where Innovation Norway’s mission was to promote Norwegian green solutions and low-emission alternatives. She will shed light on how these innovations can play a decisive role in achieving the global climate goals.
Professor Brenda Shaffer
International energy and foreign policy specialist, focusing on the interplay between natural gas trade and foreign policy, politics and energy in the South Caucasus, Iranian natural gas exports, ethnic politics in Iran, and Eastern Mediterranean energy.
Professor Brenda Shaffer is a recognized academic and expert on energy and foreign policy, with a particular focus on energy security in Eurasia. She has written extensively on the political and economic aspects of energy resources, and her research sheds light on the relationship between energy, the environment and geopolitics. Prof. Shaffer has been an important voice in debates about climate and energy policy, and she has contributed to several international conferences and projects.
Mikayil Oyta
President of the Australian Azerbaijani Association.

Mr. Oyta is known for his work with the Urmia salt lake and the challenges associated with climate refugees together with the Australian researcher Kevin Cheung. Through his involvement, he sheds light on the environmental, social and economic consequences of climate change, especially in regions affected by drought and runoff. In his lecture, Mr. Oyta will discuss the importance of understanding how the changes in nature affect local communities and highlight the necessity of measures to support climate refugees. His insights will provide a deeper understanding of the connection between environmental change and human migration.

Mr. Kalantar is one of the main creators behind the LCD monitor and has made significant contributions in technology and materials science. With his extensive expertise and research work, Mr. Kalantar has helped shape the development of modern visual technology. He will share insights into future trends in technology and sustainable innovation.
Maria Tøsse Pihlstrøm
Deputy chairwoman of the Children’s Climate Panel, the Environmental Agents.
Miss Maria is a committed young person who works actively to promote children’s voices in the climate debate. Pihlstrøm will share her experiences and insights on how young people can influence decision-makers and contribute to a more sustainable future.
